There is much China can learn from Austria, a pioneer and role model in energy saving and environmental protection in the world. In the afternoon of November 12, Professor Lin Zhiqin, Vice Executive President and Secretary-General of the 9th China Energy and Environment Summit (CEES) and Director of China Energy and Environment Research Centre, attended S China-EU Eco-City Low Carbon Development Meeting, held at a Royal Residence, Dongcheng District, Beijing, as Invited, in an attempt to further enhance Sino-EU and Sino-Austria exchanges and cooperation in environment, energy, green development and other fields. Zhang Yang, Executive Secretary of the Foundation for Globalization Cooperation, Zhao Shengfeng, Executive President of EU-China Environmental Development Association, and Tan Peisi, Vice President of EU-China Environmental Development Association jointly hosted the meeting. Xu Qinghua, former Engineer-in-Chief of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Under-Secretary-General of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, Fang Li, Deputy Director of Foreign Economic Cooperation Office, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Li Yuying, Executive President of Zhong An Holdings Group Limited, Bai Xue, Vice President of Zhong An Holdings Group Limited, governmental officials from Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, leaders from Shougang Group, and other experts and entrepreneurs attended the meeting as well, Austrian experts elaborated in full details on their experience in renewable energy technologies, renewable natural gas, Smart City, passive buildings and other fields. Exchanges and Discussions went smoothly and amicably through the meeting.

Secretary-General Lin Zhiqin spoke with Manfred Hoeffel, Deputy Mayor of Güssing, Austria, in an amicable manner, in a hope to honour the promise made in the previous reception for Dr. Andra Rupprechter, Austrian Federal Minister of Environment to enhance Sino-Austria regional and industrial cooperation in renewable natural gas, energy-saving buildings and other fields. Furthermore, Secretary-General Lin Zhiqin also sent to honoured guests from Ministry of Environmental Protection and leaders from Zhong An Holdings Group Limited, the Organzing Party of the meeting his newly-published book Theory of Green Development for Ash Haze Dissipation (http://www.ceeschina.org/view.asp?id=719&cid=11&pid=19) as a token of goodwill, invited experts and leaders attending the meeting to 9th China Energy and Environment Summit (http://www.ceeschina.org/view.asp?id=738&cid=39&pid=20), in a wish to invite them to deliver speeches and join discussions on issues like international cooperation on energy, environment, natural gas, photovoltaic industry, green technologies (low-carbon, energy-saving and highly efficient technologies), environmental management and energy internet during the summit.

President of EU-China Environmental Development Association in an amicable discussion on Sino-Austria cooperation

During the symposium, Alfred Pitterle, an expert in EU Smart City comprehensive planning, agriculture and forestry, illustrated the ideas of comprehensive planning for Austrian Smart City under the topic of “Low-Carbon Smart City and Climate Change”. Deputy Mayor Manfred Hoeffel, along with Richard Weiler, Engineer-in-Chief for renewable energy technologies project explained the success in renewable energy technologies promotion and development in Güssing, Austria. Dawid Michulec, a world-class expert in passive buildings, presented the successful construction of passive buildings in Zhuozhou, China.

The salon-styled meeting was held in an amicable, lively and productive manner.
